"Silence," the new film by Martin Scorsese, won release date to try to qualify for Oscar 2017. Adaptation of the novel "Silence" by Shusaku Endo, the film follows Portuguese Jesuit priests traveling to feudal Japan to locate their mentor and spread the gospel of Christianity in the 17th century.
Starring Liam Neeson ( "Search Relentless"), Andrew Garfield ( "The Amazing Spider-Man") and Adam Driver ( "Star Wars: The Force Awakening"), the film will hit theaters on December 23, distribution limited, to meet the Oscar rules.
The broader launch takes place in January. The production is being developed by Scorsese gives decades and the release of perspective or not this year was one of the big questions about the Oscar race 2017.
